Nice quotation, but I think that in a sense I agree with Aldous... I think when you have different ideas and thoughts its quite difficult to find people with share or understand your thoughts or your ideas... sometimes it is how to be a wave in the middle of the big ocean...

that is my opinion, nor a novelist neither a original mind...

Hey there. I was wondering if you are the guy who originally developed the portfurl.php. If you are, I had some quick technical questions for you to assist in implementing it on my blog. Thanks,

I used to belong to this listserv of PR professionals, and one of the most successful ones (owned his own business, which he promptly got rich from) started out by similarly ridiculous methods. He created a sandwich board sign of his resume, and made 1,000 copies of it. He stood in Times Square one day wearing the sandwich board and handing out resumes to passersby. He received about 30 messages on his answering machine, several of which were job offers, 1 of which he took. Something to the effect of, "if you have the balls to do that, you're the guy we're looking for."

He was known for many other self-promoting stunts. Pretty basic ideas that were later hailed by the pros. Like making a bunch of cheap t-shirts ridiculing the Titanic movie and selling them in Times Square... he made a killing.

Of course, that's the PR industry, where you can see why that kind of thing would work. And his stunt was a lot more interesting than spamming your resume, not to mention gutsier. (It even got press coverage). There are times when complete confidence and lack of inhibitions work I suppose.
