These are my policies for issuing an assertion within Thawte's
Web of Trust system. They are in accord with Thawte's rules.
- I must meet you in person.
- You must have an original ID document whose name matches the
name you're using within Thawte's system and whose ID number
matches the number you've used within Thawte's system. The document
must be authoritative with respect to the number - e.g., for a
passport number, I need to see a passport. For a Social Security
number, I need to see a Social Security card.
- You must have an ID document with a picture of a face that
looks like your face.
- You must provide me with a photocopy of the documents mentioned
above. I will store this photocopy for 5 years, and will use the
same care to protect its confidentiality that I use to protect my
own personal, sensitive documents.
- You must print and bring a printed copy of Thawte's
Statement of Notarization. When we meet, you must sign it and
leave it with me. If you want a copy, we should meet someplace with
a photocopy machine.
If you satisfy these items, I will issue you 35
points.
